HACKS 'R US!
THERE'S NO MONEY IN JOURNALISM. That's a common remark these days. And, according to the trade press, there's little money in newspapers, what with the economic downturn and fall-off in advertising and so on. All this doesn't stop the Sunday Times including Lord Kilclooney, aka John Taylor, among a list of Britain and Ireland's richest men, just published. They claim he and his wife are worth £75 million from their majority shareholding in the Alpha chain of weekly newspapers and property. However, John comes in at just No 132 among Ireland's Top 250 richest. And he just fails to make it into Britain's top 2,000 richest, where the cut-off point is £80 million. So let's hope the newspaper business takes an upswing!
